City of Lakewood starts PWA program. F.A.C.T., Facing the AIDS Challenge Together, is a program now available through the Lakewood Division of Health. The program is funded by a grant from the Design Industries Foundation for AIDS. The FACT program has been instituted in hope of helping to sustain quality and independent life-styles for persons ages 18-59 who are AIDS challenged. Persons who are eligible for the FACT program will benefit through the coordination of home and community services.

FACT Coordinator Chris Ann MacGregor will service AIDS infected persons and assist with providing home based support services including meals, housekeeping and/or transportation assistance. She feels that, "this type of assistance to persons suffering from the advances stages of the HIV virus, will hopefully increase their physical and mental well being."

MacGregor will be working with all elements of care, prevention, and education for persons with HIV/AIDS, including the AIDS Task Force, Ryan White Consortium, the Living Room, Hospice of Western Reserve, University Hospital, Citizens Committee of HIV/AIDS and Neighborhood Health Services.

MacGregor encourages anyone who is AIDS challenged and who may benefit for assistance, to call her at the Division of Health at 529-7695 Mondays between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and noon. All information is strictly confidential.

Altazor comes to Cleveland. Oven Productions, in cooperation with the Hispanic Cultural Center of Cleveland, Inc., presents Altazor in concert Saturday, May 15 at 8 pm at the Ford Auditorium, Allen Memorial Library, 11000 Euclid Ave.

Altazor is a pan-American acoustic quartet made up of four women musicians. They play poetic music and sing vocal harmonies from the Caribbean and South America, using a variety of the region's instruments. Their concert includes traditional folklore and socially conscious lyrics. Tickets are $11 in advance at Gifts of Athena and the Bookstore on West 25th Street; $13 at the door. Sexual abuse lecture. The YWCA of Cleveland's Domestic Outreach Program and the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center are presenting noted author, educator and trainer Ellen Bass, in an evening public lecture, "The Power of Creativity in Healing" for adult survivors of child sexual abuse, their partners and helping professionals on Thursday, April 22 at 7 pm at the Civic, 3130 Mayfield Rd, Cleveland Heights.

Bass will talk about the recovery process in healing from child sexual abuse and will explore the use of writing, drawing, art and other forms of creativity in healing. There will be an exhibition of survivors' artwork in the lobby. The fee is $16. Advance tickets available at Gifts of Athena. For more information call 371-1937.

Tri-County AIDS Walk '93 takes place in Canton on Sunday, May 23. Registration begins at 9 am and the walk gets underway at 10 am. This AIDS Walk raises money for people who are HIV challenged. All proceeds benefit St. Hope, which provides housing to those who are in need. Meet at the Central Plaza Building in downtown Canton. munity is sponsoring a fund raising program to benefit the AIDS Housing Council and the Free Clinic. AIDS Awareness Ribbon Pins are being sold for $5.00. Profits from the sale of this ceramic pin with gilt edge will be turned over to the two organizations. Chevrei Tikva does not profit from the sales. Identical pins have appeared in a recent national mail order catalogue at a sale price of $6.95 and more.

Lesbian physicians confer during March. The annual Lesbian Physicians Conference will convene in Alexandria, Va., April 25-28, marking the 10th con-

secutive year that lesbian physicians and medical students have gathered to discuss issues of particular interest to women in medicine.

The four-day meeting, sponsored by the American Assn. of Physicians for Human Rights, is expected to draw 250-300 participants and spouses. It will be held in conjunction with the April 25 National March on Washington for Lesbian, Gay and Bi Equal Rights. Speakers at the conference, called Women in Medicine '93, include Vivian Pinn, MD, director of the Office of Women's Research at the National Institutes of Health.

Momazons for lesbians choosing children. Momazons is a newly formed, national organization for lesbian mothers and for lesbians who want children in their lives. The group allows women to explore options in bearing, adopting, raising, or being involved with children. Momazons facilitates connections between lesbian mothers seeking camaraderie, information and support.

Momazons offers a bimonthly newsletter, referrals and supportive resources, access to research projects and phone consultations about options in creating families. More than 100 women have been participating in the organization for the past five years in Central Ohio. One year memberships are $15-20 sliding scale.
